Barbee Views by Mary is a journalism legacy evolved for the digital age. She’s carrying forward the mission to affirm Black life started by her great-grandfather and grandfather’s newspapers, The Houston Informer and The Houston Defender. She traded the printing press for pixels to document niche cultures, challenge stereotypes and highlight shadowed truths. Through photojournalism and e-commerce, Mary hopes to foster social connection and ensure Black culture is both seen and celebrated in its richest, rawest forms.
